The New Homophobia

LGBT charities

This page links to LGBT charities redefining homosexuality from same sex attraction to "same gender" attraction, erasing the lived experiences of lesbians and gays, who are not attracted to members of the opposite sex, even if they identify as the same gender.

See "gender", "gay", "homosexual", "bisexual", "homophobia"
"Gay" is defined as attraction to the "same gender". "Bisexual" is defined as attraction to "more than one gender". They say the term "gay" "not be used as an umbrella term for LGBTQ+ people", yet describe "homosexual" as "a scientific or clinical term to describe LGBTQ+ people"
"Lesbian" is defined as a woman attracted to other women. However, they imply "woman" includes biological males. Under the definition for "AMAB" (assigned male at birth - someone whose sex was determined as male based on examination of genitalia at birth), they advise against calling a trans woman "AMAB" because it "erases her identity as a woman". There is a similar definition for "AFAB". Given they don't even like trans activist terms like "AMAB", how would they feel about people asserting homosexuality is same sex attraction - the very thing they were founded to protect?
In definitions for "gay" and "lesbian", they claim "attraction and self-identification determines orientation". What does this mean for closeted gay people who "identify" as straight? Some more clarity would be nice.
Describes "homophobia" as "Animosity, hatred, or dislike of LGBTQ+ people", however, defines "transphobia" more clearly and specifically as "...dislike of trans and gender-expansive people".
The only mention of "same sex" on the whole page is the definition of "homoromantic" - defined as romantic attraction to "people of the same sex or gender".
They advise against using the term "Opposite Sex", describing it as an "inaccurate descriptor of gender", despite the fact they themselves say someone's "true gender" can differ from their sex in their definition of "affirmed gender".

See: Bisexual has the new, cumbersome "multiple genders" definition. It appears homophobia is still defined as discrimination against same sex attracted people. Lesbian has been defined as covering "women or nonbinary people".

Somewhat incoherent definition of "same sex attracted", stating it's about attraction to the "same sex or gender".

See definitions of "gay", "lesbian" and "bisexual". Part of the "bisexual" definition states a bisexual is someone who "who has...sexual relationships with" people of more than one gender. Not only does that erase both sex attraction, but through this clumsy word salad they've also implied bisexuality is a choice.

IDAHOBIT Australia

https://www.idahobit.org.au/identity-and-stats/understanding-gay-and-lesbian-identities
https://archive.md/GdBp5
IDAHOBIT say being gay or lesbian "can mean many different things".
They claim "gay" means attraction to the "same gender", and that "lesbian" can be used by "people of all genders to describe being attracted to the same gender".
IDAHOBIT claim "gay" and "lesbian" "are not inclusive terms when referring to a community of people. Instead, use the acronym LGBTQIA+". Trans rights activists and their allies have many trans-focused communities and discussions, but get very angry when same sex attracted (LGB) people organise and focus exclusively around their own interests.
